Salem man convicted of murder in '13 Silverton shooting

A Salem man has been found guilty of murder for shooting a Silverton man to death in December 2013.

Jurors on Thursday convicted Andrew James Slover, 24, of murder and first-degree robbery in connection with the slaying of 30-year-old Jeffrey Edward Lamoreaux. Slover's trial began Tuesday before Marion County Circuit Judge Cheryl Pellegrini.

Family and friends of Slover's cried outside the courtroom as the trial concluded at the Marion County Courthouse.

Slover was one of two men arrested Dec. 3, 2013, the day after Lamoreaux was found dead in his Silverton home, at 218 Olson Road. Slover was indicted on charges of murder and robbery.

Uriah Michael Dean McKinley, 22, was also arrested in connection with Lamoreaux's death. He was charged with murder, robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short-barreled rifle, and possession of methamphetamine.

McKinley pleaded guilty in July and was sentenced to life in prison.

Slover is set to appear in court at 1 p.m. April 7 for sentencing.
