The Marion County Sheriff's Office is asking the public to help locate a man suspected of breaking into a resident's home over the weekend and sexually assaulting a female teenager there.

Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Chris Baldridge said the alleged assault happened in the early hours of Sunday, June 22.

The man is described as small but strong, approximately 5'5" in height with a thin build and shoulder-length hair pulled back into a pony tail. He was wearing basketball shorts and a tank top or a T-shirt with the sleeves cut off. Baldridge said his office doesn't have an estimated age of the alleged attacker, and that it wouldn't release any other information on the girl such as whether or not she was hospitalized.

The sheriff's office said anyone who might have seen a person matching the above description near 46th Avenue SE and State Street between the hours of 3 and 6 a.m. Sunday morning, should call the Marion County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at (503) 540-8079. Callers can remain anonymous.
