City of Stayton announced on Friday afternoon that the Jordan Bridge in Pioneer Park has reopened to foot traffic.

The iconic covered bridge was closed earlier this year after inspections determined that four of its five supporting timbers were "in critical condition" and needed to be replaced. The city initially closed the bridge to all but light foot traffic before extending the closure to all use in May.

City Administrator Keith Campbell announced earlier this month that the vital repair work began the week of Monday, July 7, and was expected to take a couple of weeks.
