Always take the time to say a loving goodnight

SAL

The night my wife Meredith was too tired to go into bed and I helped her to the couch, I don't remember if I said a good goodnight.

After setting some of the clocks ahead, she said, "I'll do the rest of my jobs in the morning," after I helped her to the couch.

She never woke up and I don't remember if I said a good goodnight.

We usually said, "See you in the morning, God willing" or "Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul to keep, and if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take."

We were so sure we would see another day with its chores and fun. Our busyness somehow guaranteed things would go on.
