Take a vicarious trip from the Amazon to the Andes

Share an armchair adventure on Jan. 13 in Salem when Bill Proebsting shares images and tales about his birding experiences in Peru.

Proebsting is the guest speaker at the monthly Birder’s Night program offered by Salem Audubon Society.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Carrier Room, First United Methodist Church, 600 State St., the corner of Church and State. All are welcome, and a $2-a-person donation is suggested to help pay for the cost of the room rental

Proebsting will take you on a vicarious tour from the Amazon to the Andes in an exploration of the 1,900 bird species that have been documented in the wide range of habitats.

During his three-week visit, the retired Oregon State University horticulture professor and his wife, Lena, found more than 600 species.

Closer to home, Proebsting serves as the field-trip coordinator for the Audubon Society of Corvallis.
