Srabonti Haque, 36, was pronounced dead after Alan Patrick Jacobs, 54, drove into her residence on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017.

Srabonti Haque, 36, was asleep in a bedroom of her residence in the 500 block of Sussex Avenue SE and was struck by the vehicle as it plowed through the home around 9:25 p.m.

Alan Patrick Jacobs, 54, was driving his 2015 Mercedes SUV southbound on Volcano Street SE when he drove off the roadway, according to a statement released by Salem Police Department.

Volcano Street dead-ends into a cul-de-sac with Sussex, but Jacobs continued straight on Volcano instead of turning right onto Sussex.

A crash killed a woman in her home on Sussex Ave in Southeast Salem Monday night.

Haque's husband and two children were in the home at the time, but were not injured.

Salem Police Department has not made any arrests.

The Salem Police Department's traffic control unit is working to reconstruct the scene, said police spokesman Lt. Dave Okada. The crew is working to determine the speed of Jacob's vehicle and look at any possible factors that may have caused the crash to occur.

Okada said some investigation processes may include police asking for consent of blood or urine from the driver.

Upon completion of an investigation, Okada said, police work with the district attorney's office to determine whether any crimes were committed.

"We find out all the facts available to us, reconstruct what happened and apply those facts to applicable statutes, if there are applicable statutes, and find out from there," Okada said.

The case is still under investigation.  Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Salem Police Department Traffic Control Unit at 503-588-6293 .
