West Salem basketball to play in Les Schwab Invitational

West Salem High School’s boys basketball team has been invited to compete in the Les Schwab Invitational, the state’s most prestigious basketball tournament.

It will be the first time since 2005 that West Salem has played in the tournament.

The Les Schwab Invitational takes place Dec. 27 through 30 at Hillsboro’s Liberty High School.

West Salem went 23-6 in the 2016-17 season and placed fourth at the OSAA Class 6A state tournament.

West Salem joins Oregon schools Barlow, Beaverton, Clackamas, Grant, Jefferson, Jesuit, Lakeridge, Lake Oswego, Oregon City, Southridge, South Eugene and West Linn in the 16-team field.

Teams from out of state coming are Oak Hill Academy of Mouth of Wilson, Virgina, Mader Dei High School of Santa Ana, California and Crespi of Encino, California.
